I bought these headphones because I wanted something that sounded and felt like my roommate’s Sennheiser HD495 phones. (The 495 itself is discontinued.) I was extremely satisfied. The HD555 has the same crisp, clear sound that I enjoyed. There’s a noticeable difference, not only from earbuds and that sort of thing, but also from my previous pair of headphones, the Sony MDR-V150 Monitor Series Headphones.

The HD555 is also extremely comfortable. The ear cups feel like velvet. They’re softer than any other headphones I’ve tried, including the more expensive Bose® Around-Ear Headphones. I’m a computer programmer and I routinely wear my headphones 6 hours a day at work. My ears don’t even begin to hurt. I also haven’t experienced the pressure on the head that other reviewers mentioned. This could be because my head is average-sized, but the headpiece is also adjustable to a much larger size than I use.

The only disadvantage is that a little bit of sound does leak out. This doesn’t bother my office mates, but it does bother people who are sensitive to background noise.

To keep this brief, I am a new user to closed headphones.

In the past I used in-ear phones like the Sony MDR-EX71.

First of all these headphones are really good. The sound is excellent and the best feature is it’s ability to minimize background noise.

When I brought these headphones I thought they would be perfect; good sound quality and noise cancellation.

However in the end, I was slightly disappointed with the former.

The sound isolation works a treat - no problem there.

However, it’s the sound quality (in terms of crispness/sharpness, richness) that disappointed me.

Now I have to say, this observation is in respect to the Sony in-ear phones, which provide better clarity.

Those two headphones are quite interesting to compare.

The Sony MDR-EX71 are crisp and sharp in sound but can lack in decent sound isolation. Whereas the HD-25SP’s are great on sound isolation but lack in it’s crisp sound.

These are only my observations and I am comparing two different types of headphones here.

But I hope someone interested in changing from in-ear from close headphones may find this interesting.

I chose to purchased a pair of Sennheiser after reading a lot of reviews and shopping around. My main reason was I was tired of my Bose ear buds falling out of my ears all the time. I think the sound is every bit as good as the Bose and significantly less money. The fold up feature allows me to store neatly without the cord becoming a tangled mess. They are comfortable to wear and adjust easly. Great product!

After reading a lot of raving reviews about the HD650 my expectations were high. I must say, even without a dedicated headphone amplifier, these cans exceed my expectations!

I bought this Second pair for my younger brother, since he’s into Music production/Editing, etc. These headphones are particularly awesome for Electronic music heavy on bass. I’ve used mine for a period of over 4 years now and they’re doing good, I just replaced an extension cable once but the build quality is rugged for daily wear n tear. As a Dj, I’ve used other cans like Sony MDR V700, Stanton pro 3000, and my Fav. Pioneer HDJ-1000. Trust me, the sound quality on all the other cans I mentioned increases in that order, but of course suffers from the build quality equally - They all break. I am glad Sennheiser has made these without having too many “moving parts” that break over a period of time. I’ve used mine for practicing practically every now and then, and save my pro headphones for gigs.
1) If you’re an average listener - If you listen to music that has heavy emphasis on bass, then buy these..nothing else. For the price, you’ll be amazed at what you’re missing hearing all this while. (Having said that, I must advise though - if you like to hear music which has a lot of vocals, you may get a feeling that a certain frequency hitting vocals is some what supressed, so you may want to look for other options that aren’t as much bass heavy!)
2) If you’re a Dj - If you want to buy something that’s sturdy and will last you a while, plus give you perfect spectrum reproduction for music like house/trance and block out external noise, since they’re closed headphones..then get these and save ur pro headphones for exclusive use.
(Just a tip- if you want pro headphones - You should buy Pioneer HDJ-1000, perfect in every way- lightweight, awesome tight bass, amazing mids/treble - haven’t heard this perfect combination on other dj cans so far! you’ll love ‘em instantly!)
3) If you’re an audiophile - well, if you know your sound well..then I’m certain you’re not looking at these to satisfy yourself. Get ready to spend 4-5 times and look else where.

At the price, these are a very good deal. Don’t worry about them being remanufactured, I’ve compared them to new, and there are no cosmetic or performance differences. Compared to my AKG501s, these headphones have much greater bass impact. Highs are very clear (without being edgy) and mids are smooth and well-defined. They are somewhat difficult to power so be prepared to use them with a separate headphone amp (not a portable amp like a CMOY) or a high quality receiver/amp jack. I use a REGA Ear, and they sound lovely. They are among the most comfortable headphones you can buy. The cloth earpiece covers are very soft and aren’t too warm. I can wear the headphones for hours - you just sort of forget they are there. One word of warning, if you are a late night listener, you may find yourself staying up later and later - they are very addictive.

Well I ordered these headphones purely based on the fact that they are Sennheiser.

First of all these headphones are quite uncomfortable. They are tight around the ears and puts undo pressure on the head.

The sound quality is mediocore and people can hear whatever you are listening to. The bass is almost nonexisitant and the highs are too high.
